Prof. Xuan ZHANG (China)
Xuan Zhang is professor in the Department of Rheumatology,
Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) Hospital, Beijing, China.
Professor Zhang earned his medical degree from PUMC,
then went on to train in internal medicine and rheumatology
at PUMC Hospital. From 2001 to 2003, he underwent a post-doctoral
research fellowship at the Autoimmune Branch of the National
Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases,
NIH, Bethesda, Maryland, USA. He has taught at his alma
mater since 1997, gradually rising in the ranks to his
present position, to which he was appointed in 2005.
Author or co-author of over 160 peer-reviewed scientific
papers that focused on clinical and basic research of
systemic lupus erythematosus, Professor Zhang is a multi-awarded
investigator. He serves on the editorial boards of J Clin
Rheumatol, W J Gastroenterol, British Med J (Chinese edition),and
numerous Chinese national academic journals, and is general
secretary of Chinese Rheumatologist & Immunologist
Association. In the year of 2010, he begins to serve as
a member of Clinical Immunology Committee of the International
Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS).
