Prof. Niansheng YANG (China)

Dr. Niansheng Yang is currently the professor of medicine and director of Department of Rheumatology, First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, China. He was graduated from this university in 1987 and received Ph.D. degree in 1997. He carried out his post-doctoral research in Monash Medical Center, Melbourne, Australia, with Professor Robert C. Atkins, the former president of the International Society of Nephrology. He was subsequently appointed as the vice director of the Department of Medicine and vice director of the Department of Nephrology, First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University. His research covers macrophages, cytokines and cell signaling in progressive renal lesions and lupus nephritis. He has published 80 publications in peer-reviewed local and international journals. He was the recipient of the Award for Author of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of China, China National Science and Technology Advance Award, and Chinese Medical Science Award from the Chinese Medical Association.
