

Prof. Julian THUMBOO (Singapore)
Dr Thumboo is currently Head and Senior Consultant in
the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Singapore
General Hospital and Adjunct Professor in the Duke-NUS
Graduate Medical School and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine,
National University of Singapore (NUS). He graduated from
NUS where he was awarded the Nestle Gold Medal for Paediatrics,
and subsequently trained in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology
(with an interest in Clinical Epidemiology) in Singapore
and at the Mayo Clinic. His research interests in Systemic
Lupus Erythematosus, Osteoarthritis and Patient Reported
Outcomes (including assessment of Health-related Quality
of Life in multi-ethnic/ linguistic populations and in
patients with rheumatic diseases) have resulted in over
100 publications in peer reviewed journals. He is actively
involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education,
and has served as Honorary Secretary and Treasurer of
the College of Physicians, Singapore, Vice-Chairman of
the Chapter of Rheumatologists, Singapore, on the editorial
boards of several medical journals, as a member of the
OMERACT Scientific Advisory Committee, Vice-Chairman of
the National Arthritis Foundation, and is a member of
the Rheumatology Specialist Training Committee, Ministry
of Health.
